Second Chance Gemini 3400

Ok, so the idea of a basement on a sailboat sounds strange but it
is the best word for the "room" we created and its use

We converted the aft port berth from a berth to a basement.
We removed the matteress which had been damaged by water
caused by a leaking aft port window and installed 3/4 inch marine
plywood on the starboard side covered in gray marine carpet. We
used 1/2 inch marine plywood for the "floor" where the mattress used
to be. Access panels were made and hinged so we could still get to
the water tank, the side cubby holes and the aft airtight compartment.

A Craftsman (SEARS) tool box was located that was the perfect height
to fit under the aft window without requiring additional means to secure
it. The drill, socket set, and two other toolboxes are wedged into the area
on the side which secures them. The drawers contain all possible hand tools
required for maintance as well as most of these projects. The side cubbys
contain a "rotozip" tool, emergency 12volt jumper pack as well as wire, tubing,
stain, and extra parts from various projects
